The squareman is confronted by the devil. The devil is made of the skins of humans and twists their bodies to do what he wants. This is representing the devil existing with in man. The devil never actually speaks to the squareman, but uses his human bodies to do his work. He does this because the devil is frustrated that the squareman was not tempted.
